RECURRING DREAMS. Example Dreams of Recurring Dreams and Dreams You Have More Than Once and What They Mean
I Keep Dreaming of Being Pregnant
I have had a repeated dream over the last week where I am pregnant. I am always stressed about being pregnant as I have already had my kids and do not want anymore. I also think the father has changed twice once to be my ex husband and once to be my current boyfriend. Neither time I am happy about the pregnancy as I do not want anymore kids and I do not want anything to tie me to either partner. However I feel protective and clucky towards the pregnancy and am contemplating continuing with the pregnancy. In my real life I am definitely finished having children and do not want to be pregnant.
What the Dream Means:
This is a story about someone on the verge of new long term responsibilities (pregnant, more children possible) but is ambivalent about whether to take them. It shows a push pull between a freedom issue (not wanting to be tied down) versus the nurturing, protective inclinations, which tells me it will be a project or responsibility that is an interest close to your heart.
The dream is a heads up that such an opportunity will cross your path. It does not in itself indicate whether you will take it or should take it, just that it will cross your path. It will be your choice. No more children on the horizon. I'd expect a different sort of dream if it were literal, because you are done with family.
Devils in the Darkness
I’m in my house, it’s late at night and I wake up. All the lights in the house are off and it is almost pitch black. I presume my father is asleep in his room. I go downstairs in the dark and into the living room. The furniture is arranged how it used to be when I was younger but in the dream I am my current age. I look toward the fireplace which is of large marble, surrounded by dark wood. It is still dark.
I scream (feeling an immense sensation of fear and anger), 'GO TO HELL' and the fire suddenly is lit, its a large fire and I can feel the heat on my face. On the marble surrounding the fire there are glowing carved pictures of what I can only describe of naked type twisted devils with sharp teeth and pointy ears. They are all glaring out me and snarling in strange twisted positions covering any 'private parts'. as a shout and the fire alights these glow around the fire place. And then the dream stops. I’ve had this dream on a few occasions several times over the past two years. It is extremely memorable and feels like a release of extreme anger and fear.
What the Dream Means:
It's a story about a circumstance that one presumes is safe and predictable but then becomes very threatening and scary. That fact that it happens a few times suggests it is important. The dream is putting you in touch with a fear by giving it an image that you can see. Seeing it can help you name it and deal with it.
The fact the devils are "covering their private parts" is sort of a central image, so I'm wondering if there are issues or fears going on for you about your sexuality or "becoming a man", as relates to issues of passion and relationships. Or possibly, it can feel as if someone is “invading your privacy” and not letting you be yourself.
The question you need to answer is: "What is it that should feel safe but instead feels dangerous and threatening to me?" The dream is bringing to your attention that you may have a lot of fears and anxieties about that issue. It does not mean you can't handle or as well as others, just that for some reason at the moment there are fears and anxieties about it. It is trying to help you become in touch with how you feel about it, because that is the first step to being able to deal with it and cope with it. Once we realize something scares us or makes us anxious, we can admit it and begin to do something about it, turn it around.
A Baby Needs Help
I have had recurring dream every night for the past month about a baby. I usually find a baby that needs help and I take care of it feeding it dressing it etc. Sometimes the baby is very small. One dream I actually found a dog who then turned into a baby. Personally I am married, work full time and am not pregnant. I have two children, one in college and one leaving for college in the summer. The dream made me feel empty.
What the Dream Means:
You are working full time, but such as series of dreams makes me wonder whether you feel your life is "missing something", getting dull or dreary, you find yourself losing energy and not excited about life. This series of dreams hints that you will take on a long term project or commitment (a baby is a metaphor for that) that will fulfill you. It may be demanding etc, just like having children and a family, but you step up to the plate, and the more we put into something, the more we get out of it.
So, if not literal for one of your own children as a dream for them, then as a dream for you, it predicts something new and long term that demands your attention and devotion, but you will love it. A new , long term commitment that brings fulfillment. The dream does not say when that will happen. Such heads up dreams can come well in advance (months and sometimes years).
