Nightmare of Losing Son and a Rape

Airport Nightmare

THE DREAM: 

I'm in an airport and my son is missing. We are meeting my in-laws for dinner, a strange couple is with us who is related but they make me uneasy. As I search for my son I run in and out of the airport; I see kids playing everywhere but can't find my son. The man of the strange couple carries in a girl and everyone claims it's my son, I'm the only one saying it's not.
     Then I need to go to the restroom but am scared so I ask my husband to come with me. The strange man is holding the girl over the toilet to pee like we would hold a boy. I ask him to leave so I can have privacy. My husband says he'll be right back but leaves the door open. There are scary homeless men at the door so I yell to shut the door; instead they come in and are  about to rape me. My husband walks by the bathroom, looks in and sees the back of men; he keeps walking as if thinking I've left or doesn't care. I'm trying to scream but no one hears as the men prepare to hurt me. I wake up before the rape.
     It was VERY disturbing. I rarely remember dreaming at all and this dream woke me up screaming and crying.

Main Life Issues:

Changing roles at work though the role is in limbo, husband unemployed, have a 3 year old boy.

Terrified.

Story Line:

For a long dream with several scenes, create a story line for each scene. (1) Someone is trying to get somewhere with acquaintances that make them uneasy. (2) Someone looks for what they love and are responsible for but others try to shove a substitute at them. (3) The person seeks relief (bathroom) but is not able to find relief because of intrusive behavior (man with girl at toilet). The situation becomes more desperate (the pending rape) and their source of help does not see that help is needed.

Main Symbol:

Losing a child: Losing a loved responsibility as a metaphor for loss / change of roles at work.
Rape: Feeling violated as others drastically impose.

What it Means:

The story portrays how someone tries to move along (at airport) yet retain the best of what is theirs (son) even when others try to talk them out of it (substitute girl). Relief is impossible due to intrusive behaviors and an increasingly threatening situation. 
     With the challenges you're facing, it sounds like the story of your life at the moment. The dream summarizes where you are at and mirrors how scary the situation is. You'd like some relief such as answers to job situation, but it's not there.
     The son is a symbol for the work you love and you're afraid that what you know and love will be substituted by what is strange (girl). Your husband is a symbol for your  own strengths. You try to reach for it but the situation feels overwhelming, you feel alone and terrified. 
     Bottom Line: The dream does not predict anything bad. It's helping you digest and process fears and feelings so that you can find your strength. Job and roles change, but having a job is a big plus. In time all changes and you will find your strength and get to choose your life and career path.
